The Drawing Room
19 - 23 May 2021
Address: Iris Studios, Adrian Mews, London SW10 9AE
Opening Hours: 10 AM - 6 PM
The Drawing Room will be a presentation of works on paper by a select group of emerging London based artists. Taking inspiration from the theme of Selfhood, these artists have created new works which will be exhibited for the first time.
During lockdown this year, as a result of not being able to access their studios, many artists started experimenting with works on paper. Being forced to work on a smaller scale and in this medium became an interesting turning point for many artists. Paper can feel less rigid than working on a canvas, so it can allow for freedom and experimentation, meaning many artists started exploring new subject matters and techniques during this time.
With this exhibition we want to celebrate these works on paper and take a look at how different artists approach this versatile medium.
