Scallasaig Residencies: Tuesday Riddell, March 12, 2026
We are thrilled to announce that Tuesday Riddell will be this year’s artist in residence at Scallasaig Residencies, 3 - 17 May 2026.

In collaboration with Berntson Bhattacharjee Gallery, Scallasaig Residencies is curated by Holly MacDonald. Situated on the west coast of Scotland, the residency offers artists access to dramatic landscapes, ancient history and mythology, and time to foster deep connection to a sense of place. Through site visits and exploration, Scallasaig residencies aims to inject wilderness into the artist’s studio practice.

The residency takes place in a 19th-century hunting lodge at the base of a glen in the village of Glenelg, Ross-shire. Looking west across the water to the Isle of Skye and bordering the remote Knoydart peninsula, Glenelg is steeped in literary and natural history. It is closely associated with author Gavin Maxwell, who lived at the nearby beaches of Sandaig and wrote Ring of Bright Water, inspired by his life with otters on the west coast. The area is also home to some of mainland Scotland’s best-preserved Iron Age brochs - circular stone towers that have stood for over 2,000 years.
