Falsterbo is a charming town located on the South-Western tip of Sweden. This fish-tailed peninsula is flanked by long, beautiful white sand beaches and is well known as one of the most beautiful places in the country. While Falsterbo used to be a fishing village, nowadays it is most known internationally for the annual horse show, which takes place in July and attracts thousands of visitors each year.
However, in recent years this small village has begun to form a new association - as a hub for the arts. The fantastic nature and landscape is a great source of inspiration to artists, particularly during the summer months when the art scene really comes to life. Art and craftsmanship is highly welcomed in the area and so it has become a popular destination for galleries and collectors.
Berntson Bhattacharjee will be in Falsterbo this summer between 3 - 11 July for our summer show, Stäying Alive. The venue is a modernised barn in the heart of the town at Lotsgatan 2.
We would like to highlight some of the other galleries and institutions you can visit if you happen to be passing by Falsterbo this summer. Despite the wonderful remoteness of the place, it is very easy to get to, being just 30km outside of Malmo in Sweden and a short train or car journey from Denmark.

This second home for the gallery presents smaller more focused exhibitions at selected times throughout the year and creates an exciting additional outlet for the gallery program. ”Utopia” by Cooper & Gorfer, is the artist duo's first exhibition in Sweden since their critically acclaimed solo exhibition "Between These Folded Walls, Utopia”, at Fotografiska in New York which ended in March this year.

This old station house in central Falsterbo has become a permanent gallery space, showcasing mostly established Contemporary Swedish artists. This year they will display the retrospective exhibition “Elementa” of Dan Wolgers' work. He is a conceptual artist, playing with poetry, and humour. He challenges the conventional perceptions of art. Dan Wolgers explains "Elementa" ”Although I didn’t choose what was to be included in this exhibition, that doesn’t matter. The objects are mine, I’ve made them and everything I’ve done is interconnected. This particular selection shows what any other selection would show: that the things are all interchangeable” Wolgers’ work can be found, for example, at the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Moderna Museet, Stockholm and Kiasma, Helsinki, as well as in several private collections.
