Ebru Duruman b. 1992

Ebru Duruman (b.1992) is a painter from Istanbul, Turkey. In 2015, she completed her BFA of Fine Art at Rhode Island School of Design in Providence.

While growing up in Turkey, Duruman was advised to follow a traditional career path, and her sexual interest in women was not warmly welcomed. Duruman's journey toward self-acceptance and a deeper understanding of her sexuality led her to embark on a profound exploration of the facets of sexual identity, the human body, culture, and love. Her abstract representations of the female form often depict a disconnection between one's self and their physical and emotional experiences, showcasing sexuality as a conduit bridging the realms of the body and the mind. Her fervent imagery resides at the crossroads of abstract and figurative art, infusing her depictions of bodies with a passionate physicality.
